The Unsettled Feeling You Cannot Shake Is Not a Faith Problem

You know the feeling.

It is not quite anxiety and it is not quite fear. It sits somewhere in your stomach and it does not leave. You go to work. You show up for your people. You smile and handle everything. And the whole time that feeling is right there.

Butterflies that never go away.

What makes it harder is being a person of faith and still feeling that way. Because somewhere along the way somebody told you that peace was the evidence of faith and unsettledness was the evidence of doubt. So now you are carrying two things. The uncertainty. And the guilt about feeling uncertain.

The feeling is not the problem. It is evidence that you are human. Some of the most faithful people in scripture wept, questioned, and wrote their confusion down in psalms we still read today because the feeling they described is the same one you woke up with this morning.

Stop waiting until you feel more together before you bring it to Him. God does not require a polished presentation. Bring the butterflies. Bring the stomach that has been unsettled for weeks. Bring it exactly as it is. The mess of it is exactly what He came for.

And you do not have to see the whole path before you move. Habakkuk 3:19 states, “The Sovereign Lord is my strength. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer. He enables me to tread on the heights.”

A deer does not map the terrain before it moves. It moves with confidence because of how it was built. He makes your feet like that. Not so the path becomes easier. So you become capable of walking it.

The unsettled feeling does not have to go away first. Take the next step. Bring it exactly as it is.
That is not a faith problem. That is faith.
