The Weight Is Real, Sis—Why Black Women Need Space to Breathe
Just because you’re strong doesn’t mean you don’t get tired.
Just because you carry it well doesn’t mean it’s not heavy.
Just because you pray, lead, serve, give, and pour—doesn’t mean you don’t need rest.
We love to wear “strong” like a badge of honor.
The dependable one. The backbone. The fixer. The faithful friend.
But even the strongest women need to exhale.
Even Jesus took time to withdraw and rest.
So why do we feel guilty for needing a break?
The next time you feel tired and start to feel bad for taking a break, pause and pray:
A Prayer for the Overwhelmed
Lord, I’m tired.
Remind me I don’t have to carry it all.
Give me peace in this moment,
and the strength to breathe again.
In Jesus Christ’s name I pray.
Amen.
