So Much Pressure
So much pressha… so much pressure.
Jill Scott’s “Pressha” put words to what a lot of us live with daily—the kind of pressure that doesn’t stay on your calendar. It starts showing up in your spirit.
Here’s what it looked like for me: I’ve been moving nonstop for weeks. And lately, pressure has been showing up in my patience.
Somebody asked me something simple. Not rude. Not deep. Just normal.
And my response came out sharp.
Not because I was mad at them.
Because I was depleted.
And the depletion was talking.
Let me say this plainly: If you keep running on empty, you’ll start spilling on people who never deserved it. That’s not a character flaw. That’s a warning light.
Pressure convinces the strong one that everything depends on her. That if she slows down, things will fall apart. So she pushes harder… and dries out… and starts reacting instead of responding.
Then God handed me this:
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (Exodus 14:14)
That verse is for the woman who’s tired of carrying battles she never signed up for.
And no—be still doesn’t mean do nothing.
It means stop panicking. Stop spiraling. Stop trying to fight every fire with your own hands.
Stillness is a choice:
“I’m not responding from empty.”
“I’m not snapping because I’m overloaded.”
“I’m not carrying what God said He would handle.”
Do this today (not next week)

Name the battle you’ve been fighting alone.

Pause for 60 seconds before you answer anybody. Whisper: “Lord, fight for me.”

Set one boundary that protects your peace. One.

Put Exodus 14:14 somewhere visible—because pressure is loud.

Ask for prayer instead of pretending you’re fine.
Reflection
What if the win today isn’t getting more done… but getting still enough to stop spilling?
Prayer
God, I’ve been fighting too hard and carrying too much.
Teach me to be still and let You fight for me.
Refill me so I don’t respond from depletion.
