If Your Thoughts Are Loud Tonight

If Your Thoughts Are Loud Tonight

Tonight feels like this: the house is finally quiet, but your brain isn’t.
Washing machine sloshing. That email you didn’t send is nagging you.
Your phone has lit up three times—group chat, a “hey, you got a minute?”, a bill reminder.
Your chest feels tight and you’re wondering why it takes so much to just… be okay.

You carry so much. You’ve been the strong one, the dependable one, the “she’ll figure it out” one.
But who holds you when your thoughts get loud?

I know that spiral.
It sounds like: Why didn’t I start sooner? Why can’t I be consistent? Everybody else is moving. I’m stuck.
It feels like: shoulders up to your ears, a knot in your stomach, scrolling to numb and feeling worse after.

Listen—this isn’t a failure of faith. This is a human nervous system begging for safety. And the God who formed you isn’t rolling His eyes. He’s already here, whispering, Peace, peace be still. Breathe. I’ve got you.

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” — Isaiah 26:3
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7

Let me sit with you for a minute.
Unclench your jaw. Drop your shoulders. Put one hand on your stomach and one on your heart.
Inhale slow and say, “Jesus.”
Exhale slower and say, “Prince of Peace.”
Again. And again. You’re not behind. You’re releasing your cares on Him.

Now tell the truth you’ve been swallowing:
“Lord, I feel unworthy, behind, and tired of being strong. I hand You my to-do list, my image, my fear of disappointing people. Tell me what to do.”
You don’t need fancy words. He’s not grading your prayer. He’s drawing you near.

If shame is creeping in…
Shame says, “Try harder or hush up.”
God says, “Come as you are.”
Shame wants you silent. God wants you honest.
Say it out loud so the spiral has to make room for truth:
I am called by name, not by the noise.
I am a child of God.

When everything feels urgent
Overwhelm screams, “Fix it all now!”
Peace asks, “What’s the next faithful step?”
Not five steps. Chose just One.

  • Drink a full glass of water.

  • Set a 10-minute timer and clear one surface.

  • Text one friend: “Pray for me tonight.”

  • Write tomorrow’s top three and close the notebook.

Every small obedience is a vote for the woman you’re becoming—rooted, resolute, unapologetic. She lives from God’s promises, not her fears.
