Closer Than Any Other
Do you feel like you have a strong relationship with God?
I’ve been asking myself that lately. And the truth is — I want mine to be closer. Closer than my best friend. Closer than my family. Closer than anyone else I know.
When something big happens — whether it’s good news or bad — who’s the first person you think to call, text, or talk to?
That person is your safe space. Your confidant. The one who will celebrate with you when you win and comfort you when life falls apart.
That kind of relationship doesn’t just happen. You built it over time. You’ve trusted them with your heart, your secrets, and your honest truth. You’ve had countless conversations, shared moments, and been there for each other in ways that go beyond surface-level friendship.
And that’s exactly how I want my relationship with God to be. I want Him to be the first One I run to with my excitement and the first One I turn to when I’m overwhelmed. I want to know Him so well that it feels unnatural to go anywhere else first.
I realized I was “close‑ish” with God one morning when I was rushing to start work. My Bible was sitting right next to my laptop, but instead of opening it, I jumped straight into emails. I told myself, I’ll read later. But later never came. And the truth? That wasn’t just one morning — it had become my pattern. God was on my calendar, not in my everyday.
The relationships that last — the ones that change you — are the ones where you show up, even when you’re tired, distracted, or not sure what to say.

Our Action Steps for This Week
I’m not just writing this for you — I’m doing it with you. This week, let’s take three small but intentional steps toward God:
-
Give Him Your First 5 Minutes — Before you touch your phone, take five minutes to talk to God or read a verse.
-
Invite Him Into the Ordinary — Pray while you’re driving, cooking, or folding laundry.
-
Sit in the Silence — No music. No podcast. Just be still and let Him speak.
We build closeness with God the same way we build closeness with anyone else — through time, conversation, and presence. And just like any relationship, the more we invest, the deeper it gets.
So if you’ve been feeling “close‑ish,” let’s make this the week we move closer. Because the most important relationship we will ever have is the one we have with Him.
