Some Doors Don't Open Because You're Still Rehearsing
If this hits different today, it's because I'm feeling it too and wondering if I'm the only one.
There are doors God already told us to knock on. But we're still outside rehearsing what we're gonna say when we get in there.
We done rewritten that email six times. We've "prayed about it" but we haven't moved. We keep telling ourselves we need one more sign, one more confirmation, one more week.
Meanwhile, the door hasn't changed. We have.
We got comfortable rehearsing instead of risking. And let's be real. Rehearsing feels responsible. But most of the time? It's just fear in a cute outfit.
I'm afraid of what people will say. Afraid of rejection. Afraid I'll get it wrong and upset God. Just… afraid. And all these ideas that never get executed? It's getting on my nerves. Because I heard from God. He said this is the way to go. And I'm still standing here with a whole script in my hand and my stomach in knots.
Fear loves "almost." Almost ready. Almost confident. Almost healed. Almost obedient. But God doesn't respond to "almost." He responds to faith that moves.
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." — Matthew 7:7
It doesn't say rehearse. It doesn't say overthink. It doesn't say wait until you feel ready. It says knock.
And look. If we don't knock, we can't be told no. That feels safe. I get it. But rejection is not the worst thing that can happen to us. Never finding out is. Staying stuck is. Letting another whole year go by while we keep calling fear "wisdom." That's the real loss.
If God told you to move, you don't need more time. You need more trust. Not trust in your own perfection. Trust that He can guide you once you're in motion.
Because clarity doesn't always come before the knock. Sometimes it comes because you finally knocked.
Jill Scott said it. Live your life like it's golden. But golden doesn't mean perfect. It means you stopped rehearsing and started moving like God already gave you permission. Because He did.
God said it would be done according to your faith. And what He has planned exceeds every dream you've been too afraid to start. So the question isn't whether God can do it. The question is whether you'll stop stalling long enough to let Him.
Grab the My Daily Bread Scripture Cards and put them where your excuses live. Your mirror, your desk, your nightstand. When the thoughts start spiraling, you need the Word where you can actually see it.
And faith knocks.
And if you read this and felt something? That's probably because this is your letter too.
