You're Not Behind Spiritually—You're Becoming
Every so often, I feel like I should be further along. Further in my faith. Further in my purpose. Further in my healing. Further in my consistency. Just…further.
It's that quiet guilt that creeps in when I miss a few days reading my Bible. Or when I scroll more than I study. Or when I let doubt lead instead of faith.
I picked up Becoming by Michelle Obama again recently (to listen to). And it struck me—becoming isn't a finish line, it's a process. It's not about where you "should be," it's about staying in motion. Growing. Stretching. Surrendering. Trusting. Falling and getting back up with intention.
And isn't that the journey of faith too?
God isn't looking see if you are early or late. He's walking with you, shaping you, growing you—sometimes slowly, sometimes suddenly. And every part of it counts.
Even when it doesn't feel like it.
Even when your prayers feel short or distracted. Even when you wonder if God is still working in you.
He is. And you're not behind. You're becoming.
Becoming more grounded. Becoming more honest. Becoming more bold. Becoming more you—the you God already saw when He called you by name.
What if God is less concerned with your spiritual performance and more invested in your authentic presence with Him?
In nature, nothing blooms all year. There are seasons of vibrant growth and seasons of hidden development. Your spiritual journey follows the same divine design.
So if today feels like a low point or a slow crawl, let this be your soft reset.
Take a deep breath. Take the pressure off. Open your Bible again, even if it's just one verse. Whisper that prayer, even if it's just "Help." Show up as you are, not as you think you should be.
You don't have to have it all together to be growing spiritually. You just have to stay in the conversation with God.
You're not late. You're not less. You're not behind. You're becoming.
"Being confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." – Philippians 1:6 (NIV)
